FLYERS FALL PREY
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Although it took longer than the Predators would have liked, the result was worth the wait.
Martin Erat scored the only goal of the shootout to lead the Nashville to a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.
The Predators have won three straight while the Flyers have lost two in a row.
Steve Sullivan, Erat, and Jerred Smithson scored for Nashville. Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne turned aside all three Flyers attempts in the shootout and finished with 42 saves.
"Even though they had a lot of quality chances, most of their shots I was able to see," Rinne said. "We didn't play our best game, but we were still fighting for every single puck."
Jeff Carter, Simon Gagne and Chris Pronger had the Flyers' goals.

ANIMAL AVERY
NEW YORK (AP) - ragsSean Avery returned from a one-game benching and scored twice to help the New York Rangers earn a key 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

Michal Rozsival netted the go-ahead goal in the second period as the Rangers climbed within one point of eighth-place Boston in the Eastern Conference playoff race. New York also shelved urges to retaliate against Dan Carcillo, who fought star forward Marian Gaborik in the teams' previous meeting on Jan. 21 and drew the Rangers' ire.

LATE CHOP BEATS HAWKS
TFH Exclusive - Chris Pronger has a reason to show that gap toothed smile for the rest of the day. His tip in with 2.1 seconds left gave the Flyers a 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday afternoon at the Wachovia Center.
The goal, Pronger's ninth on the year, came just 2:01 after Scott Hartnell tied the game. It was Hartnell's first goal in the previous 13 contests, and it couldn't have come at a better time.
In a game where both goaltenders played amazing, five goals were put up in the third period. Flyers goaltender Michael Leighton continued to amaze the city as he was named first star for stopping 39 of Chicago's 41 shots. Blackhawk netminder Cristobal Huet also had a solid game, stopping 31 Flyer offerings on net. However, as seen by his stick toss at the end of the... [Read More]
