| Get Your Drew Evans Bobblehead! GET YOUR DREW EVANS BOBBLEHEAD, FREE WITH ADMISSION ON 4/9/2007
On Monday night, as the Buffalo Bison come to town, Team Hive will honor captain Drew Evans with a bobblehead distributed to the first 4,000 fans courtesy of Comcast! Evans has acted as captain of the team since it's inception in early 2006. He is one of only seven active Hivers to start every single game (32) in the club's history, and also sits sixth on the team's all-time goalscoring chart.
This is the first of many home promotions offered by Comcast and The Flyers Hive this season at The Bee Hive. Nearly every game will offer a giveaway or special event for the team's fans.
Hmm.. I seem to have lost my photo of said bobblehead.. think someone could whip something up for all to see?
Also, following Monday's game, the Team HIVE record book will be made public, featuring all-time stats for every player ever to register a point for The Flyers Hive. (Yes, I've done some compiling over the last few days!). | | | | Thoresen dropper NHL-spil

| Team Hive News Thread Team Hive signs backup, depth at goaltending position April 10th, 2007
Jon Fried wants to be a starter for Team Hive.
To get there, he's willing to play the backseat role for a while.
Fried, supplanted by Ryan Sassaman, signed a two-year contract to be a backup for the team.
"You know the history of this team and how loyal they are to Kevin and I would say that a healthy Sassy would see 20-25 games," said Fried. "Even though I know my role coming in here is to learn and get better, I want to be a number one goaltender at some point in this league, Team Hive gave me an offer I couldn't refuse, and I'm learning under some great coaching and mentoring.
Fried was waived by the Syracuse Orange last week, and the team bought him out of the final year of his contract to make the move possible. He could have become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.
Fried has been a starter in the junior development league so far this season, but is not likely to return to his minor team unless Team Hive signs a third goaltender to take his No. 2 spot.
The signing finally gives the coaching staff stability in the backup position.
Last season, the team switched between veteran Brett Evans and then-rookie Ryan Sassaman. There was no clear-cut number one, although Evans started and won more games than Sassaman. Evans turned down a qualifying offer from the team in the offsesason and did not return, clearing the way for Sassaman's big jump to No. 1.
"(Team Hive) told us they'd be delighted if Jon gets some experience between the pipes with the big boys," agent Ryan Pinder said. "They have options now, and that's what they were looking for, as were we.."
It was rumored that the elder Evans would make a return between the pipes as a backup or contention starter, but the likelihood of that situation, while still possible, dropped with Fried's signing. | | | | BAI.

| Former Hive goaltender arrested outside bar April 10th, 2007
Former Team Hive goaltender Brett Evans was arrested at a popular Philadelphia nightspot early Monday after a scuffle with a police officer.
Evans and a friend were at the bar when security guards from the club asked police to make him leave, police said.
The player, on hiatus from the game of hockey, refused and walked toward the officer "in a fighting stance" and pushed him, a Philadelphia police report said.
Evans pulled away from the officer trying to arrest him and grabbed his shirt. The awkwardly built goaltender then fell forward on the ground, kicking and refusing to place his hands behind his back, the report said. After continued refusal, Evans reportedly began to beat bystanders with his own shoes as law enforcement officials stood in stunned silence.
Evans had slurred speech and was wearing a jock at the time of his arrest.
It was also reported that he mumbled "I'm going to choke rhino sassy." Perhaps in response to the youngster, actually named Ryan Sassaman, who took his self-proclaimed "number one" goaltending spot after the elder Evans turned down an offer to resign with the team in the offseason.
The team had no comment on their former player's arrest.
Evans had been a fan favorite while with the Hive, frequently seen jetting into the crowd between periods to exchange information with young, female fans.
Rumors had Evans returning to the team before the trade deadline later this season, analysts are unsure whether this incident will alter those plans on either side.
More information on this story will be posted as it becomes available. | | | | BAI.
