Post Game Hive: 10/27/05 Peter Forsberg entered Thursday's game against Florida still searching for his first goal. Little did he know that he would get more than one chance during the course of the night to change that.
Florida came into Philadelphia being one of the high-energy, suprisingly competitve teams early into the young season, and they looked to continue that trend against the Flyers in South Philly.
The Peter Forsberg-Simon Gagne duo drew blood again tonight, they're proving to be one of the hottest items in the league right now. Simon Gagne had two goals in the game, and Peter Forsberg was able to snatch his first of the season with just 49 seconds on the clock to tie the game, and send it to overtime.
Joni Pitkanen scored in the extra session to clinch the extra point for the Flyguys, he made a nifty move to knock the puck out from under his skates and was able to get a shot off as he fell to the ice.
The game could have turned in a different direction if Peter Forsberg had converted on his penalty shot, Forsberg shot the puck high and wide over Roberto Luongo, just clipping the crossbar.
Philadelphia drew quite a few penalties tonight, the accuracy of some of those calls are questionable, but they're still penalties. The Flyers need to work on playing more disciplined hockey, this is what seperates the great teams, from the good ones.
See you tommorrow in Carolina.
