Post Game Hive: 9/27/05 The Flyers improved to 4-0 on the preseason with a 5-3 victory over the New York Islanders tonight at the Wachovia Center.
Patrick Sharp scored two goals, and Donald Brashear broke the tie in the second period. Yes, you heard me right, Brashear scores the game winner midway through the game.
However, it didn't look good for Philadelphia early in the game, Jason Blake beat Antero Niitymaki for the opening goal just 16 seconds into the first period. Yashin also scored at 3:45 for the Islanders while on a two-man advantage.
Mike Richards scored at 12:04 on the powerplay to put the Flyers back in reach at 2-1. Patrick Sharp scored at 18:19 thanks to a goaltending error by Rick Diepietro.
Midway through the second period, the Flyers gained their first lead of the game. Kim Johnsson beat Diepietro on a top-shelf slap shot, this gave Philadelphia a 3-2 advantage. Brashear then put it away later in that period with his game-winning wrister. News & Notes
