Philadelphia has fallen to 3-3 in the preseason with a loss to the New York Islanders 4-1. The game was fairly tame compared to those against the New Jeresy Devils earlier in the preseason schedule. The Scoring in the game opened at 16:26 of the first period with a Radek Martinek (NYI) powerplay goal against the Flyers' Jeff Hackett. The second period had no goals but racked up 7 penalties that were mostly related to roughing up the opponent. The scoring returned however, in the third period with a John Leclair goal 50 seconds into the final frame. That was the last bright spot for the Flyers as the Isles scored 3 unanswered goals by Micheal Peca, Jason Blake, and a powerplay goal by Adrian Aucoin.
Goalies
NY Islanders Rick DiPietro (26 shots, 25 saves)
Philadelphia Jeff Hackett (11 shots, 10 saves)
Robert Esche (3rd Period, 10 shots, 7 saves)
My thoughts on the game:
- Jeff Hackett continues to wander out of his crease like old Checko
- John Leclair is working his way back to where he was prior to his injuries
- Let's Go Flyers!!
Best Wishes
Chris
