| B. With the injuries they have had, they have done damn well. Projected 5 30+ goal scorers by year's end? Damn impressive.

| Fill-in players (Sbisa, Giroux, Powe, Gratton) get an A-
Veterans (3+ yrs) get a C+ (docked for promoting a high energy level and setting an example for the young guys)
Richie as a captain B+ (When he's on, he's ON... he needs a bit more consistency, though).
Cote C- (when was the last time he straight up won a fight?)
And I still think Metro should be expelled, he doesn't do enough for the team, and chokes when in good position. | | | | Super Moderator/Big Poppa

| Overall, I'd give them a B-. They've performed well, considering some of the setbacks they've had, but the star players shouldn't be getting upstaged by plumbers like Powe. I mean, I'm really glad the hole-pluggers are playing well, but the team's best players absolutely positively have to work at contributing on every single shift. They must come out harder on a nightly basis.
Inconsistent efforts and lackadaisical play leads to lengthy losing streaks like the one that cost us 1st place last season. | | | | | Thanked by: | Andy (January 23rd, 2009) | Stanley Cup, Here We Come

| the offense has done good overall over the season. They are letting to many goals in themselves though that's why i give them a B.

| I give them a B+, due to the setbacks they have faced, and the terrible start they had to the season I was thinking maybe a B/C, but when you look at the considering of those 3rd and 4th liners play, Richie stepping up as captin, and Carter's explosion, you have to like where this team is going after the all star break...
Once you get past a horrible start to the season, you start to see alot of gold in our lineup... From the emergance of Sbisa, Powe, Giroux, Gratten, and Kalinski... The return of Gagne has been nothing but amazing... Carter's unbelievible goal scoring, nobody in the NHL finds the puck on their stick more down low and in scoring position... Richie is going through his growing pains as the new captin but he's a C for the future of this long term team..
Plus the main reason I gave them a B+ is because well, there's only room for this team to get worse, and I don't think any of us see that happening (knock on wood)... | | | | fan for life

| id give them a solid B, with all the injuries they've had, they have coped surprisingly well, and for a team comprised of mostly young yet blossoming hockey players, they are well on their way to being a prime cup contender. maybe not this year, who knows, but i can see them in the stanley cup finals in the next few years | | | | Senior Member From: Staten Island, NY Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 144

| B-. Despite the slow start and spate of injuries, i think they've done remarkably well. The scoring is impressive though limited to two lines. If Briere ever gets back, it should be even more lethal with the scoring distributed over 3 lines. That would be a nightmare to defend. Metropolit has been a major disappointment, and while I love Upshall's energy and guts, I wonder what happened to the scoring touch he displayed when we first got him.
The patchwork defense that was put together to cover the injuries there has improved greatly. Alberts has helped immensely, but I would love to see Parent back there (damn cap space). Vaanenen is a pleasant surprise, too. Still, we give up too many goals and do that stupid running around in our own zone, chasing the puck routine which is so annoying to watch.
Let's see the team play better against the Devs, Rangers, and Penguins in the second half.
