| Boyle for sure. He's a little bit more affordable than Campbell would be.
I really don't think we're going to see Forsberg come back, either. | | | | Member

| Campbell. I always liked his gritty style of play - and he's very dependable defensively. Except against Umby.

| Campbell is a fag.. Can't stand him, and his carrot top looking self.. If we got him, I might quit.

| Where's the NONE option? This team doesn't have what it takes (defense, good coaching) to go deep into the playoffs. If they don't have what it takes to go deep into the playoffs, what good is it to trade part of our future core for a rental that won't likely improve your chances that much.
And sorry Drewsky, but Campbell doesn't belong anywhere near a Flyers uniform now or in the future.
Homer should do nothing right now. Let the team play and let them do what they do. In the off-season, let Smith and Vandy walk, waive Hatcher and start with a D corps of Timonen, Coburn, Kukkonen, Parent, Jones and either Picard or a cheap UFA guy that can suck up #6 minutes without making mistakes. | | | | Senior Member

| Smith's been a turnover machine this year. If he wants any kind of pay raise, he has to walk.
Bear in mind, Smith will NOT want a mere 1-year deal. He's performed poorly this year, do you really want him around for 2-3 more years at like $2.5M cap hit?
I'd rather keep Hatch for next season to mentor the kids, than have Gator sucking it up and stealing paychecks for 3 more years. | | | | Senior Member

| so you would rather have hatcher and his bum knees sucking up 3.5 mil a year and not playing, than having smith making 2.5 and playing. smith is a leader and has lead by example. look at the tolpeko hit. when was the last time hatcher dropped the gloves after a hit? keep smith hes a better mentor than hatcher

I mean, maybe if Smith took a decent paycut to play #6 minutes (instead of #3-4 minutes), I'd re-sign him, but if he's making more than $1.5M/yr, it's a waste of money.
Again, it boils down to Stevens giving guys minutes that they can't handle. Timonen, Coburn, Jones can all handle the minutes they've been given. Guys like Vandermeer, Hatcher & Smith should NOT be seeing upwards of 15 mins/game TOPS... | | | | Super Moderator/Big Poppa

| Hossa is a stud. At only 26 years old he could be a big player for years to come. I say ship out Briere and Smith and a 3rd. He would be better than Forsberg. | | | | THE POLICE

BUT...
A) His contract is up and he'll be requesting $7M+/yr.
B) With a package of Briere, Smith and a 3rd... we're better off not making an offer. A wise man once said "It's better to keep quiet and allow people to think you are a fool, than to open your mouth and prove it."
Right now, Homer has League credibility for the turnaround in Philly. If he makes that offer for a superstar scorer in his prime, he'll be the laughingstock of the NHL. Smith has very little trade value, Briere's production this year hasn't been proportional to his bloated salary and a 3rd (like the one we sent to LA for Modry) is of negligible value.
We raped ATL last year for Coburn, there's no way Waddell gives us Hossa for nothing too. | | | | | |
