| I don't think they will trade Foppa, I think they SHOULD but he has that no trade clause and the guy doesn't really believe in himself right now. I would love to trade him and get a nice pick or some youth and then resign him in the offseason though | | | | Village Jackass

| I'd have to say no. I dont think hes gonna get traded. The Flyers Management has said that they plan on making this team a winning team again, as early as next season. If you know the Flyers, they are not a re-building orginization, They want to win, and win asap. Ed Snider is not getting any younger either, and you know he wants to win before his days are numbered as well. The Flyers have also said they want to make a big splash in the FA Market this summer. This would be Impossible without Forsberg here. How many people do you think are gonna wanna sign with this team if Forsberg is gone?? Nobody. Forsberg would be the only reason good players would want to come here and play. Aside from that, I dont think you could get as good of value back for him in a trade, as you could get off the FA market while still retaining him.

| I doubt it.
I think it'd be a mistake if they did. | | | | This Space for Rent

| Yeah, Mikey has a good point there. I really do doubt the Flyers are looking for a rebuilding season or two, they'd much rather do it on the go. I really do believe most of the talent is there, but the defense surely needs a big upgrade and perhaps add a goalscorer during the offseason like Drury or Elias, somewhere along those lines.
Forsberg stays and re-signs for 2 more years, you heard it here first.. | | | | Senior Member

| As far as trading him, he has said he would not approve a move anyway, so that isn't happening. I also read he will not re-sign until he gets the foot problem straightened out. I wonder if he is gonna hang them up after the season. The possiblity is there if his problems continue. | | | | do-nothing Hiver

| looks like it could be a possibility... even if as a playoff rental... I never said we shouldn't sign him back, just get something for him now http://www.courierpostonline.com/news/sports/index.html

Peter Forsberg strikes me like the kind of guy that would want to stick it out with the team that he's with in the first place. I highly doubt he will get dealt with his foot problems to a different team. He has stated numerous times that he doesn't want to go anywhere else, all he cares about is his foot right now and playing to the level he can play. He could probably care less about going to a playoff contender right now.
And if he does get dealt now, we can wave him goodbye for good, he would not come back in the offseason. I really don't think he'd want to come back to us, the only possibility I see is him signing a 2 year deal somewhere in the near future, that is if his foot problem is solved. If not, he'll probably hang them up.. perhaps making a future comeback with his ankle and foot problems solved. | | | | Forum Enforcer, Wallpaper Designer

| He's gonna be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year no? If that is indeed true - they HAVE to trade him so they get something (anything) in return while they can. Sorry boys, get your farewell cards ready. | | | | Senior Member

| Yes, but the way I see it, is Forsberg has some loyalty towards the Flyers and would maybe pull something like Weight or Recchi last season. | | | | | |
