Comrie for Iginla? RUMOR #1:
EJ Hradek on ESPN News is claiming the Philadelphia Flyers and Calgary Flames may be about to swing a major deal.
Hradek said the deal would involve newly obtained centre Mike Comrie being shipped to the Flames in exchange for winger and Flames captain Jarome Iginla, with other players also involved in the deal.
Justin Williams and Jim Vandermeer from the Flyers and Denis Gauthier and Craig Conroy of the Flames have also been mentioned. RUMOR #2:
Hradek also speculated that should the Iginla deal not go through, Clarek may be targeting Tampa Bay's Nikolai Khabibulin and could offer up current starter Jeff Hackett and Michal Handzus or another forward.

The Comrie deal doesn't really make sense to me as we really don't need another center. Comrie is also a small, speedy guy. How many small speedsters can you remember as full time centers on the Flyers?? Not Clarke's style. He likes the big strong guys down the middle.
Whatever happens, it has to happen by midnight tonight as the NHL has a freeze on all trading before the holiday season.
I'd rather deal Handzus, Hackett, & Comrie for Khabibulin -- who, by the way I think could win us a Cup.
I DO NOT, repeat DO NOT want to trade Justin Williams. I don't care if it's for Iginla. Our trouble isn't with scoring - it's with keeping the puck out of the net.
Regardless, I don't expect Comrie to still be here come playoff time. |
