Was wondering if anyone heard this trade rumor about Jeff Carter? Supposedly they want to grab a young, offensive style d-man from somewhere?

A friend said he read it in on one of the NHL rumor sites...

I heard this also.. I think that would be a stupid move... Im on of Carters biggest critics, because he always appears scared when he has the puck, and just shoots it, to get rid of it... But, I think he's going to mature in a year or 2, gain confidence, and become a top notch goal scorer for our team.. No way I give up on him already.

Yeah I would not give up on him yet either - I think he will explode in another season or two...

Flyers GM Paul Holmgren and Vancouver GM David Nonis are both denying a report that a trade involving C Jeff Carter and Ryan Kesler is in the works.

Carter entered Saturday night's game with seven goals and four assists in 18 games. Kesler had three goals and six assists through 18 games.

"I'm not close to a deal with anybody," Nonis told The Province in Vancouver.

The proposed deal would also include one of three players -- Luc Bourdon, Alex Edler or Cory Schneider -- but makes little sense because Kesler is not well-liked in the Flyers dressing room, especially by former teammate R.J. Umberger.

Loose pucks: RW Sami Kapanen returned to the lineup after missing four games with a sprained right knee. But instead of returning to the third line, he played on a fourth unit with C Jim Dowd and LW Riley Cote. . . . The third-line LW spot went to rookie Denis Tolpeko, who scored his first NHL goal on Thursday. He played with Carter and RW Scottie Upshall, leaving LW Ben Eager on the scratch sheet. . . . RW Steve Downie has three games remaining on his 20-game NHL suspension, but because the Phantoms play on two of the Flyers' next five game dates, the earliest he'll be available to the Flyers is Dec. 1 when they host the Dallas Stars. . . . The Flyers entered Saturday night's game leading the NHL in penalty minutes per game (20.2). . . . Before allowing two first-period goals against the Devils Saturday night, the Flyers had not allowed more than one goal in 30 of their previous 37 periods. . . . Entering Saturday's game the Flyers were dead last in average shots per game (24.5) and average shots against per game (33.4). . . . WTF!! December 1st.. We Need to see him against Ottawa... This was one game everyone was looking forward to. F-You Flyers. Scratch him from 2 of his phantoms games then.

Looking back on this rumor now, looks pretty retarded to have gotten rid of someone with the deking skills he seems to be developing

I would not say it is safe to say anything just yet, maybe not a deal for Kesler, But don't be surprised if a deal goes down at some point this season where he could find himself involved.

Or more likely, there was never any truth to it at all. Upshall can't stand Kesler and neither can RJ. Both would have most likely demanded a trade. Their dislike for Kesler runs very deep and Upshall made that evident when he was in the broadcast booth for a game when he was injured. RJ played with Kesler for a good enough amount of time in US Junior National and with OSU to know what kind of a team mate he is.

In the end, it was never anything that would have actually happened, for the simple fact that Carter wouldn't have been the only young Flyer we would have lost by bringing Kesler in.

While I hope we keep Carter as he is a personal fav of mine, I have a feeling he will either be dealt, or taken away with an offer sheet... I hope I am wrong.
