| Trade Rumors: 20Jan07 With the injury of Monroe on the Phantoms, it appears Holmgren has been calling around the league looking for a minor leaguer to bolster the goaltending. The Flyers won't send Leighton down and risk losing him through waivers.
Tim Panaccio is saying that York may be waived soon if his play doesn't improve. Stevens wasn't too happy about sending Potulny down and will be putting pressure on York to play better.
Still some crazy rumors floating around about a Jose Theodore for Foppa swap. Whoever is spreading this one needs to put down the crack pipe and get to AA.
that's all for now...

| The question is - why can't the front office realize it and bring in a defenseman. Other than Zhitnik, that is.

| I really like Zhitnik, no matter what anyone says about giving up a youngster like Meyer for a 34 year old. Zhitnik still has some years left in him and at least we have a bit more stability with Hatcher and Zhitnik. Imagine Meyer, Pitkanen, Guenin, Picard, Jones and Hatcher as your 6 d-men, not that its a great change, but at least you have that stability as I mentioned.
I'm thinking the Flyers will either buy Rathje out or try and trade him over the offseason so look for Zhitnik to re-sign for perhaps a season or two. If we get Timonen over the offseason, and just maybe a guy like Drury, I'd say we would look pretty exciting. | | | | Senior Member

| But I guess, the thing is, we looked exciting at the beginning of this season as well, and look how that panned out. | | | | Senior Member

| Just saw this on tsn.ca/nhl, add it to the mix I guess.. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=193006&hubname=nhl
It appears the New York Rangers are willing to take a chance on Peter Forsberg if the Flyers are willing to trade him.
According to the New York Daily News, the oft-injured Forsberg would be willing to waive his no-trade clause to join the Rangers for the playoff drive. Forsberg, whom many believe would like to remain in Philadelphia, is in the final year of a 2-year, $12 million contract which has him collecting $5.75 million this season.
While the Flyers have expressed interest in re-signing Forsberg, general manager Paul Holmgren has said if a deal cannot be worked out before the trade deadline, he would have to consider trading his star centre.
"At the trade deadline, if we didn't have something done for future years, we might just be inclined to roll the dice," Holmgren told the newspaper.
Holmgren was hoping to sit down with Forsberg's agent Don Baizley next week to try and work out a deal before the February 27 trade deadline. However, Forsberg is flying home to Sweden for the All-Star break, hoping doctors there can come up with a solution to his ongoing foot problems.
-Not that it's anything new, but now I really wonder if the Flyers would want to make a deal similar to that of Mark Recchi in Pittsburgh or Doug Weight in St. Louis, kind of a handshake agreement where the player re-signs in the offseason. We'd be getting a few picks in exchange, perhaps a prospect as well. | | | | BAI.

| Wow, can't say I didn't see this coming. It's still only a rumor until it's done. But, wow.

| The Flyers have got to be the biggest media whores in the league.
Why can't it ever be for something positive, though?
I won't believe anything until I see press conferences, and new jerseys being stitched.

| An update on the Rangers for Foppa rumor, it appears the Flyers are asking for some combination of the following players: Montoya, Prucha and Staal. I don't think we need Montoya with our current goalie situation but Prucha and Staal (a younger dman brother of Carolina's Staal) would be a pretty sweet deal.
Other teams with apparent interest in Foppa are the Habs, Sens, Atlanta, Toronto, Detroit and Colorado. Don't know how it'll come off but would be an interesting situation if it does. Spector has a blog post up on this topic on FoxSports with some fan comments. Pretty convincing argument for while Foppa won't be moved... but then again, you never know. http://community.foxsports.com/blogs/Spector/
