Sources tell me that the if things don't turn around this weekend the Flames and Flyers may hook up in a major deal. And I mean MAJOR. This is a major league rumor and is fun to speculate on. Both these teams are living parallel lives right now. Neither can score, but both have too much talent. The trade rumor I have heard speculated on (from now 3 separate sources) is Gagne, Umberger and Claude Giroux for Iginla, Tim Ramholt and Dustin Boyd. Can you see it now? ?Boyd?s of Philadelphia.? the way the team is playing , it dosent surprise me that there are all of these rumors out there, sooner or later something will go down,

I can see anything happening, so I won't even comment on how stupid it sounds. But then again, can't we see Forsberg get traded mid-way through the season? He obviously does not enjoy being on a losing team, and he's just not a captain sort of guy. It's his last year on contract, and I just can't picture him re-signing.
God if we could only get a #1 goalie like Kipper. Iginla doesn't sound too bad either. With the way things are going, anything can happen boys. | | | | This Space for Rent

Word from Tim Panaccio is that the Flyers have no intention WHATSOEVER of trading Forsberg or any of our young talent (including Gags). As tough as this time is now, I don't think it's a matter of lack of talent... it's just chemisty and some other intangibles that aren't clicking. The more I think about it, the more I think that we'll just ride this out and see what happens. Since we don't have trader Bob anymore, it's not going to be the wild west anymore when things get hairy.

I certainly hope Foppa stays, as well as Gagne, but I mean, I wouldn't be hanging myself if anything did happen..I would cry, maybe 
But I seriously could beat off to the thought of a perfect defensive corps right now, quick, mobile and aggressive in their own zone.
Lets just hope to God Hatcher and Rathje are gone for next year and we bring in someone like Danny Markov or Steve Staios, and have one of the young guys playing a full shift, (i.e Jones, Picard..) | | | | Section 212

Interim GM Paul Holmgren told the Philadelphia Inquirer he has held talks with other teams about an upgrading in goal. One player the Flyers are interested in is San Jose's Vesa Toskala.

Toskala?? Somehow I think we'd be giving up a lot to get him from SJ. And you just gotta wonder if he would be enough for the #1 job? I'd much rather see an upgrade on defense rather than goaltending at the moment. Our offense seems to be getting the shots, and sooner or later, some will go in. I've heard Toskala mentioned several times over the past week and a half ...latest one had them trying, notice I said trying to send Chico and Umby for Toskala. Why would we trade for a goalie? Goaltending isn't our fuckin problem.. The players out on the ice have no offensive chemestry, and The defensive corps suck.. Nitty is as good of a goalie as anyone in the league...
