I dunno what you guys are talking about.

I'm enjoying the deals.

Dimi's a high-speed intellegent winger with alot of experience, and Gauthier's a great pointman, something we've been missing for a bit now.

Clarkie gets an A.

I'd agree. Dennis will be a good addition to our Blueline. He's plays physical and isn't afraid to hit somebody, which we need. Don't know much else about his offensive abilities. As far as Dimi, don't know much, but what i read over at DMD he sounds like he's got tons of potential. We'll find out

Ozolinsh going to the Rangers helps the Flyers. He's a defensive liability who has scored 13 goals in the past 3 seasons combined.

Picking up Gauthier now makes the Flyers D that much harder to play against. He's also an intimidating hitter - perhaps moreso than Hatcher. With Goat - Hatch - Rathje anchoring the 3 defensive lines, the Flyers will always have a hitter out there. The real reason this move was made though is because Randy Jones is not ready for the NHL, plus Johnsson could be done for the season.

While I would've liked to see a nice winger picked up, I'm glad he didn't do so at the expense of an Umberger or Downie type player. This team is nicely set for the future with a lot of good young talent & I just don't think there was enough value out there (for trade) to give any of it up.

alright... I sincerely hope it goes well... I've eaten crow before and I don't mind eating it again... especially with a nice lime salsa and Chianti

I happy. Umberger, Carter, and Richards are still Flyers. That's great. We got some blueline help cuz of the injuries and who knows Goat may be a keeper. Dimi may be too, a change of scenary and a chance to step up may enhance his skills. I'm happy.

Apparently the hold up in the Recchi trade was that the Pens were asking for Steve Downie in the deal. Glad Clarke balked at that... Downie's a great player and a former #1. He's a true right winger and will be great for the team (wouldn't be suprised if he joins the team next year on a part-time basis).

Here are a couple scouting reports on Downie:

Talent Analysis

Scout #1: You win with kids like this. He took a team as a 17-year-old and was the force that made all the rest of the kids on that Windsor team honest. He?s got good skills and sees the ice well. He was Windsor?s best player as a 17-year-old! He shouldn?t be from Ontario; this kid is a Western boy, he?s all heart and soul. He should be in the WHL. You get the odd guy like this out here but he plays so hard he should be in the ?Dub. He?s so strong on his skates and he?s so determined. I don?t know where he?s going to go in the draft, but someone will step up to take him and they?ll get a character player as soon as he puts their jersey on.

Scout #2: One of the grittiest, nastiest players in the league. He?s a bit of a rat, he?ll do anything to win, he competes game in and game out and he has talent. And he?s skilled. He?s not a tall guy but there?s no doubt in my mind that he?s going to overcome his lack of size.

Here's a good post from Foxsports on the rest of the Flyers up-and-coming talent:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/5397572

I know many will say we need the help now but I'm still of the position that we have the talent we need... it's just a matter of application. I wasn't thrilled with the trade deadline moves but I'm warming up to them now. Looking forward to our first glimpse of Goat and Dimi tonight.

Wow, Clarke played it very smartly to not give up Downie, Recchi would only be a rental anyway.. Downie is going to be a keeper.
