| The Flyers are thought to be dangling C Michal Handzus to Boston for LW Sergei Samsonov.
anohter day another Handzus rumor , if the Buins do this deal , they might as well trade away raycroft and any other key players they may have
this is the 1st I have heard of this rumor, but who knows what will happen

| I don't like this questionable transaction at all :P
If they have to come to an agreement with Bruins I think Murray would be a much better move for us!

| Murray's been out for a few weeks now, he maybe reinjure himself later in the season, yea never know. I agree we could use a speedy bitch like samsanov but our centers are dwindling, well their at least getting younger. Which is good, I mean youth is strong, but questionable.

| Yea... dwindling centers... Preems - injured, Foppa - injured... Moreover, if we traded Zeus who would play as center? I'm afraid of this transaction but I appreciate the youth! Carter, Richards, Umberger, come on!

| Well first of all, we would be very stupid indeed to trade away someone like Handzus. This guy has consistently put points up on the board, has made great passes, a great penalty killer and is our future.
However saying that, our center position is very strong, once Primeau comes back, even if he doesn't we have some good centers. Forsberg, Zeus, Carter, Richards, Primeau, enough said. I think we have a good core of young players at every position and should not rely on our 1st round or 2nd round pick this year. Throw in a player like Ellison and trade that over to the Pens for Recchi. Recchi is having a good year over in Pittsburgh, even with all the struggling players around him, LeClair and Endicott on his line. For gods sake guys, hes playing with a guy who has no back left and Endicott, who takes stupid penalties on every shift. The only reason he has a spot is because of his faceoffs!
Recchi could help out our secondary scoring which has been very inconsistent this year. Imagine him with Handzus and Kapanen as our second line?
Of course, we'd have to dump a few guys for us to take his salary. In comes the Therien+Brashear factor. Dump them both. | | | | Mighty Mighty Mick

| I think Zeus has developed in the Flyers organization as a great all around player. He can hit, score, pass, kill penalties, and support the power play. It even looks like he has a bounce in his step this year. He definately seems quicker on the ice than past years. He'd make a great Captain, I'd say.
Soft spoken player, that doesn't complain and just gets the job done.

| I'd hope we'd get more than just Samsonov... he's good but on the downside of his career... while Zues is still on the way up... I'd hate to see Zeus traded just yet now anyways with Prims' status still up in the air... besides, team chemistry is solid and I think a major trade like that could screw with things royally

| I think Zues is a core centerman. I think dealing him for a winger wouldn't be a good idea. I mean, we do have other core centers, but their young still. Richards, Carter, Umberger) Handzus keeps the experience in the middle that the kids can learn from. He's a great role model for our prospects.

| I highly doubt Clarke will deal Handzus with Primeau in doubt. IF, and that's a big IF Primeau were playing then maybe Zeus would be expendable.
But really - the Flyers don't need anything else. This is the first time I've ever said this, but I could care less what they do at the trade deadline. I'm really liking Eager, Umberger, Randy Jones, etc. IMO Eager is everything Brashear should be. He can actually play, and he'll drop the gloves. All I ever see Brash doing is skate to the penalty box.
Got off topic there... lol
Point is, the Flyers are SET to be a very dominant team in the future. VERY DOMINANT. I wouldn't risk trading any of these players away for a guy on the downside of his career.
I say roll the dice and see if youthful energy is more valuable in the playoffs than a savvy veteran brought in at the deadline. | | | | Mighty Mighty Mick

Very good point. I would hate for them to dish out a young prospect for someone that'll only be in the league a few more years, if this isn't his last.

The fact that I don't think it's a good idea to deal one of our young guys for him (I think you though I was referring to Samsonov).
But your right, Samsonov is still young and maybe leaving Bean Town would help him get his stats up. I know Glen Murray is struggling without Joey T. I didn't really clarify who I was referring to in my last post, my bad !

| my bad... I was wrong about Samsonovs age... I guess it would be a fairly straight up trade... although I think the Handzus has a lot more heart than he does

And after the night Handzus just had, I think I'd stick with him quite a while longer.
