| Spread Some Light on Roenick Well, as I've heard repeatedly now...
With the signing of Peter Forsberg, the Flyers need to make room for him with the salary cap and whatnot.
So... Roenick is going to be traded.
Now, I've heard that he's going to be traded to the LA Kings... But for what, I must wonder?
Obviously, they're not going to be going for Ziggy Palfy or anything like that... Other well-known players won't exactly help with the cap situation. Personally, I'd have to guess a low-key player or two will come to Philly, in addition to at least one draft pick.
Your thoughts, people?

Arrr... I think we have acquired enough draft picks. I'd love for the Flyers to get Aaron Miller, although his salary is a little high at $2.66 mil...

| LA Considerations I think those future considerations that we got from LA need to be considered NOW According to their roster they have about 14 forwards right now. I'm sure we could get one of them. Jeff Cowan, Sean Avery, and Frolov maybe?

Man, Dave Taylor would have been run out of town if he made that move. | | | | H4-H6 Designer Join Date: Jul 2003 Posts: 494

| For what it's worth, ESPN & WIP host Al Morganti is CERTAIN that Roenick will be picked back up by the Flyers at the trade deadline. At that point the Flyers will only have the remaining portion of his contract will go against the cap.
Here's my scenario as to why it could happen...
After the last concussion, JR almost hung up the skates. Perhaps he wants one more chance to win a Cup, and figured this is it. He thought it would be in Philly, but knew the cap issues so he gracefully accepts a deal to L.A. - which, by the way, is where he wants to live after his hockey days are over. Prior to the OK'ing the deal, Clarke tells JR that he'll get him back at the deadline where he can take his last shot at the Cup on a team WITH Forsberg.
From JR's perspective, it's perfect. He moves to LA for a season, where the Kings needed a media savvy player to help generate hockey interest after the lockout. He also gets time in LA to jump start his acting career. Come March, JR heads back to Philly for a shot at a Cup with the much improved Flyers.
It makes his graceful departure much easier to understand, doesn't it?
Maybe it's not that far fetched. | | | | Banned Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 996

| I'd love to see J.R. back with the Flyers come time for the deadline. We'll wait and see.

| I hope this rumor plays out...it would be great for both J.R. and the Flyers.
I can't imagine the hype surrounding the team if they are going into the playoffs as the #1 seed, with both J.R. and Forsberg. WOW | | | | Let's go Flyers.

| Remember how the Flyers got "Future Considerations" as a return (and they also included the 3rd round pick)?
The return could be JR, with the 3rd rounder thrown in there just for giving him back later because they knew they would. | | | | No Longer Embarrased
