Blackhawks Trade Ville Nieminen To Calgary Source: TSN.com
The Calgary Flames have upgraded at forward by acquiring Ville Nieminen from the Chicago Blackhawks. Nieminen will join the Flames at practice on Wednesday.
In return, Calgary sends forward Jason Morgan and a conditional draft pick to Chicago.
In 60 games with the Blackhawks this year, Nieminen has two goals and 11 assists. He has played in 252 career NHL games with Chicago, Pittsburgh and Colorado and has tallied career totals of 36 goals and 47 assists.
The native of Tampere, Finland, was originally drafted 78th overall by Colorado in 1997 and won a Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2001.
The Flames picked up Jason Morgan off waivers from Nashville on February 19. He has no goals and four assists in 19 games this year. Morgan also tallied six goals and 13 assists in 21 games with Lowell of the AHL.
