Canadiens buy out Audette's contract Source: TSN.com
The Montreal Canadiens has bought out the contract of Donald Audette, making the veteran winger an unrestricted free agent. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Audette's contract was valid through the 2004-05 season.
The 34-year-old Audette played in 23 games with the Canadiens this season, scoring three goals and adding five assist for eight points.
He was acquired from the Dallas Stars with Shaun Van Allen, in return for Benoit Brunet and Martin Rucinsky, November 21, 2001.
In 90 regular season games in a Canadiens uniform, he registered 15 goals and 22 assists for a total of 37 points.
In 707 career NHL games, Audette has scored 254 goals and added 242 assists for 496 points.
