Default Maurice Fired ! ! !

Source: ESPN - NHL

The Carolina Hurricanes have fired coach Paul Maurice, ESPN The Magazine's EJ Hradek has learned.

The team has called a news conference for 4 p.m. ET.

Maurice, the second-youngest and longest-tenured coach in the NHL, was in his ninth season with the Hurricanes. He is the club's all-time leader in regular season (268) and playoff (17) wins and regular season (674) and playoff (35) games coached. Maurice led the Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2002, where they lost in five games to the Detroit Red Wings.

The Hurricanes, who just completed a 1-2-0-1 road trip, are 8-12-8-2 this season. They currently are in fourth place in the Southeast Division and are 13th in the Eastern Conference

So who is gonna be next

All I can say is, it's about time. The only positive highlight from those 9 years that can think of is the short-lived Stanley Cup run.

Next in line to be fired should be (but won't be) the entire New York Rangers head office. Glen Sather, and the rest.
