I choose a rocky-ass path but thats how I like it,
hopefully we can make some sort of deal or at least find a diamond in the rough , who knows anything is possible, and considering the good players we have pick in the late going of drafts we should be ok
Agreed. I'm still really pissed off over this. We trade a legit all around NHL player who is excellent in any forward position away for a guy who may never crack the Flyers lineup. Umberger is going to be a great player under Hitch, I know it. Best of luck, Umby.

I think we can all agree with ya. This does suck. What they hell are they thinking?? I wonder what Umby feels about this.... I'd be pissed if I were him! He totally got us through an entire series of the playoffs almost singlehandedly and I felt like he really enjoyed playing for Philly.
Good luck bro, I hope we see ya back playing for Philly sometime.

You type in Zac Rinaldo's name into google and you get a zillion webpages on hockey fights. Seems pretty wild. Cant wait to see him play!!

It sucks to let a guy of this caliber go, but you have to look at it from a management standpoint.
We've got an incredible influx of offensive talent coming up through the system over the next few years (Giroux, JVR, etc), and in all likelyhood, he wasn't going to get the money he desired with Carter signing first.
In Columbus, RJ's got another young team with a bright future, and playing with a guy like Rick Nash should make him forget about missing Philly fairly quickly.
I'm not happy we lost him, but Homer's already acknowledged the talent we have coming up on the offensive side of things, and shoring up the blueline has to be our number one priority this summer.
I saw this coming the second we signed Carts up, it's business.
If Clarke pulled this move, I would be worried. Homer knows what he's doing, though.
If Hatch would have just retired after the season, we might have worked something out.
I bet you Homer is furious Hatcher just won't call it quits. Atleast with the Eminger trade, Jason Smith is out of the picture. Time to throw some money at a free agent defenseman.

I'd have to agree. I'm quite satisfied with the picks we got. Gonna be a great season! I hope they all get a chance to prove themselves.
But did I miss something? What happened to the 2nd 7th round pick we had - #208??

Big, big mistake passing this guy up. Sleeper pick of the draft, hands down.
I'm not too sad about moving Umberger for picks.
A) His 50 pts puts him in line for a $4-5M cap hit, which we simply couldn't afford if we were to plug the #3-4 d-man hole.
B) With the offensive firepower coming up through the organization (plus the depth we already have) there would be no place for him in the lineup
C) His trade value was at an all-time high right now
D) We get him out of the conference and into a good position on a team that can use him and maximize his potential. A win-win-win deal.
Gaining that 1st (which we used on Sbisa) allowed us to pick up Eminger for the 27th pick, who I see as a great pick-up in the Coburn mold in terms of getting a guy with huge potential that just needed a change of scenery.
