|  REPORT: Flyers Resign Carter for 3 Years

You can scratch Jeff Carter's name off the list of potential trade bait this weekend. Sources are telling Sportsnet that Carter has agreed to a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Flyers that is believed to pay him no less than $15 million.
Should the deal be completed, the Flyers remove the risk of Carter -- a Group 2 free agent on July 1st -- getting any offer sheets from teams wanting to scoop up the Flyers centre.
The London, Ontario native played a key role in Philadelphia’s turnaround last season. The Flyers, who missed the playoffs in 2006-07, made a 39-point improvement before losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins in five games of the Eastern Conference finals.
Carter appeared in all 82 of Philly’s regular season games, recording 29 goals and 24 assists. In 17 playoff games, the Flyers centre had six goals and five assists.

This is great news. I wish he would have signed for more years, but this is a great start to the off season. I hope Umby is next.

Not sure where this story is coming from.
There is no mention on any of the sports radio talk stations, comcast's site, the Flyers site, any of the NHL rumor sites, or any of the Philly papers.
If it turns out to be true, thats good news, but right now, nothing in print or voice to confirm. | | | | Member

I just heard this rumor on the NHL XM station this morning. It is the exact same story as mentioned below. They made the comment that it wouldn't be announced until July 1 when the cap goes up.  | | | | The cake is a lie.

I would have liked to see a longer term deal, but I'll take it as it secures his spot on this roster for another 3 seasons. Now, get Umby and Jones signed.
