| Inconsistency continues, Flyers fall 4-1 Touche.
PHILADELPHIA - Mark Streit scored two goals and rookie goalie Carey Price made 29 saves in the Montreal Canadiens' 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night.
Christopher Higgins and Andrei Kostitsyn also scored, and Tomas Plekanec had two assists for the Canadiens, who snapped a two-game losing streak.
Mike Knuble scored for the Flyers, who had ended their five-game home losing streak with an 8-2 win over Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
The Flyers opened the season with six straight wins at home but are only 1-4-2 in Philadelphia since then.
Price, who was Montreal's first pick (fifth overall) in the 2005 NHL entry draft, improved his record to 8-5. He made his fifth straight start in place of Cristobal Huet, who pulled his groin during a 5-4 shootout loss to Nashville, on Dec. 1. | | | | Senior Member

| That was not pretty, at all.
The Flyers just didn't look energized at all. I thought they'd play with a ton of energy coming off that big win over the Pens. I can't pick out one player who looked real good tonight, atleast one that was playing for the Flyers anyway. Niittymaki wasn't on top of things tonight, neither was the defense. | | | | Member

| I thought Umberger looked pretty good. Maybe not real good, but he had some jump. That pretty much it, everyone else was bland... as usual for our off game. They put the clones in and went drinking or something.
Something is wrong with our pk. I just don't know what exactly. Anyone got ideas?

| That was ugly. Just ugly.
I was hoping we'd come off hot from the Pens game, but this seemed to be more in the category of a letdown game.
Perhaps we should have saved some of those eight goals for tonight. | | | | Banned Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 996

| Niitty looked awful. He didn't even make an effort on any of the last 3 goals. Looked like Roman f'n Cechmanek the way he was just skating to that side of the net and taking a feeble swipe at the shot with his stick. If his hip is injured again, throw him on IR and clear up some cap space. If he's just becoming a dogsucker, then trade him.
Biron's shown he can play 60 games in the past and very capably at that. He's clearly the #1 and has the ability to play for long stretches. Stevens has to be getting tired of this win-loss-win-loss stuff, why doesn't he try something to change it? Give the Richards line more ice time until Gagne is healthy again. Change up the PK'ers a little bit, give Eager more ice time to start stuff. Hell, I've got a ton of ideas to light a fire under these guys.
I think the biggest thing is Coach Stevens. He's a pretty accomplished AHL coach but he's just not getting the job done at this level. | | | | Thoresen dropper NHL-spil

| Total letdown. I swear, how can you come out firing on all cylinders 2 nights earlier, and then asleep last night? I don't get it. Quote:

I would have worked the team twice as hard in practice after the win over Pittsburgh just to keep them grounded. | | | | | Thanked by: | Drew (December 14th, 2007) | Senior Member

To be fair, MTL has one hell of a Power Play unit. Either way, the entire team played like shit, even our own Power Play.

| it just doesnt make sense how they look like legitimately the best team in the eastern conference when they play the pens and sens, but last night they just looked like they were going through the motions.
But eight of their next games are all legitimate ones they can win. The hurricances will put up a fight, but we need to look sharp. I would expect Nitty to start once again saturday since a huge game against the Devs is on Sunday.
Still love all you guys and lets get some wins for our fans. | | | | | Thanked by: | Drew (December 15th, 2007) | | |
