| Flyers stay red hot as Gagne puts away the Hurricanes in Overtime OVERTIME THRILLER!
Simon Gagne scored his second goal of the game 48 seconds into overtime and the Philadelphia Flyers won their fifth straight game, 3-2 over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night.
Mike Richards also scored for the Flyers, who won their fourth straight at home. The Flyers had not won five straight games since Dec. 22-29, 2005.
Jason Willliams and Eric Staal scored for the Hurricanes, who had their three-game winning streak snapped by Pittsburgh on Friday night.
Gagne stopped a pass from Derian Hatcher with his skate, then snapped the game-winner into the net. It was his 400th career point.
What an amazing home stand, and start to the season!! Yeah, we all knew that this team was improved in the off-season, but holy hell....we're looking like a serious contender boys. Let's hope their strong play continues...

| Another good win, the Hurricanes gaves us a good test and I say we passed, of course we still could have bene better, nut in the end we came away with the win. Now the flyers head off to the road for eight games, it wil be interresting to see how well we handle the trip with several big test including games Vs the Lightning the rangers, devils and penguins to name a few

| Good game from what I saw. Seemed we got away with this one.
Mike Richards is playing like a man possessed this season. He has a goal in every game, I think?
The defense has to step up and limit the shots though. Biron won't last if he has to stop 40+ shots a night.

| This whole team is just blowing me away. If we play like we played in the third period on a consistent basis, there's no way anybody will easily stop us. No lie. Maybe the Sens, but that's really about it.
Mike Richards is playing absolutely incredible. So is Kapanen. My god. This whole team is just gelling, and I love it.
This road trip is going to be a test. We're not home until November 12th. I'll be there, by the way. | | | | Senior Member

| I'm really starting to love this team and the constant effort they give night in and night out. Let's they keep it up on this road trip.
Andy, next home game is the 10th against Pittsburgh. That's at least what my ticket says ... | | | | King Bee Squared From: Reading, PA Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 5,532
