There's nothing more exhilarating than seeing your favorite hockey team absolutely smother its adversary into the ice. Tonight in Vancouver, the Flyers did just that. With a final score of 8-2, the Flyers have marked their most prevalent win in the past two years. Not something we Philadelphia fans are used to.
There are two words that come to mind this morning as I write this. Daniel Briere. All I can say is WOW and WOW. The addition of Briere has proven so far to be much more than it’s expectation.
The Flyers didn’t take long to get on the board. Before the eleven minute mark of the first period, both Jeff Carter and RJ Umberger tallied goals for the Flyers. 13 seconds apart, at that. RJ Umberger’s goal was brilliantly assisted by Mike Richards.
Before the period was over, Danny Briere tallied another goal for the Flyers, as did Simon Gagne. Strangely enough, Gagne’s goal was magnificently assisted by Briere. (Get used to hearing this, fans.) The Flyers built a 4-1 lead going into the first intermission causing Vancouver to do the unimaginable. The Canucks pulled started goalie Roberto Luongo and replaced him with back-up, Curtis Sanford. Luongo gave up 4 goals on thirteen shots before he was yanked from this one.

It was the Flyers first trip to Vancouver in almost six years, but nothing changed as far as results. Philadelphia hasn't lost here since 1989, a streak extended to 9-0-4 with a win that got even more one-sided in the second period. – Flyers.com
The Flyers scored 2 power play goals tonight, and one shorthanded goal, completely ridding of the old “Philly power play sucks” theories.
Scoring for the Flyers:
Jeff Carter
Danny Briere
Simon Gagne
Mike Knuble
RJ Umberger
Joffrey Lupul
Mike Richards (2)
Scoring for the Canucks:
Lukas Krajicek
Ryan Shannon
The Flyers take to the ice again SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13TH AT 7 PM VS THE NY ISLANDERS. THE HIVE WILL BE THERE.
I’m sorry for the shortness of tonight’s report. I’m completely exhausted from writing a whole shit load of school stuff. Plus, the 10:30 start was killer for my brain. These will be more extensive soon, folks. Especially Saturday’s.
So I pull into work at 8 am today and hop on to check out the scorelines. I thought 8-2 was a typo. Seriously, I checked two different sites.
Let's hope we follow this effort up with another strong one on Saturday.
Yeah, the Flyers came out from the getgo and totally handed Vancouver their asses to them on a plate - in every category imagineable. Someone should check that team for a heartbeat.
I honestly believe my college hockey team of years past could have put up a good fight with their pathetic performance. I enjoyed that ass-whooping so much, I stayed up and watched the post game on CSN at 2am.
Besides the obvious stellar play by the first line, three players who are really impressing the hell out of me so far this season - Richards, Lupul, and Jones. Bright future, looking good.
Here's hoping the Flyers continue that strong effort on Saturday night when we'll all be there.

This game kicked ass to say the least. Let's hope they saved some for the home opener on Saturday.
Side note ... WTF was Boulerice thinking last night? You have a team buried and then take a cheap shot like that behind the play?? He's lucky Vancouver didn't retaliate on one of our guys.
Stupid ...

jeese... what the heck was going through Boulerice's head??? The only positive I can see coming out of this is that the Flyers will develop a reputation... I just hope our finese guys don't get beat up in response
here's the video...

Yeah, I don't get that either. I know Kesler isn't well liked by several Flyers, but that's just bush right there. There was a bit of chippiness brewing between the two of them during the game, but that is just uncalled for. I'm sure he's going to get suspended, and deservedly so.
