Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren on Saturday gave the following update on forward Mike Knuble, who was injured during the team's 5-3 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden earlier in the day.
"Mike fractured both his right cheek bone and right orbital bone. He is going to need surgery for both of those fractures. We're going to have the surgery delayed a few days until the swelling goes down. He will be re-evaluated again [Sunday] to see where that's at. As soon as the swelling goes down enough he will have the surgery.
"Mike will be out indefinitely."

I'm kind of glad I wasn't able to witness this.. It sounds terrible for both players, such a shame too. Shanny and Knuble seem to be great people and don't deserve such a freak thing to happen to them

wow... I wish Mike the best... those are serious injuries. If you remember, Kirby Puckett's orbital was broken by a errant pitch a few years back and he never made it back.
