Welcome Back to the New Hive!

The Flyers are back, and so are we. A lot of work went into this version of the Hive, and we hope that you enjoy the added features. Due to the extensive file loading, the Hive version 5 requires a broadband connection, Flash Player 8, and a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768. When loading the homepage for the first time, you may not see the opponent icon listed under "Next Game" at the top left. If this is the case, reload the page... I'll wait.

Now that the technical stuff is out of the way, let me tell you about some of the additions...

* HIVE CHAT! How annoying was it to have to constantly refresh the page to see the messages in the Shoutbox? Well, the shoutbox is still there - but so is real time chat. Use the same username/password combo that you logon to the Hive with. Get in the chat room & talk about games in progress!

* HIVETUNES! New and improved. You can now listen to music even while clicking through the Hive. More tunes will be added later.

* NEW GRAPHICS! Yup. Aren't they purdy?

* PORTAL WINDOW. This is the area where Keith Primeau is. Throughout the season there will be new animations... new goodies... new functionality. All brought to you by the goodness of Flash.


Please let me know if your thoughts on the Hive v5 by voting in the poll, or commenting in the forums. Since we had no time to troubleshoot, we're hoping everything is working correctly. If it's not, post a message.

I also think that maybe the hive chat could possibly be an auto log in like the one that is set up on DMHN, but if not its all good

Jeff / Chris - To get back to the main page, just click NEWS at the top. The reason the chat requires login is because we're still running vbulletin version 2. If we upgrade to VB3, login to chat won't be required as it's supported by the chat system.

I'll take a look at the chat's PHP code and see if I can figure out how to bypass the login if somebody is already logged into the hive.

Speed was one of the thoughts in the redesign. The majority of the old site, and this site's graphics are in the top part (the header). Since the header in H5 doesn't need to load each time a page is refreshed everything should be faster.

Yeah, a geek description of why this site is flyin!

I've noticed everything I click on the left HIVE Main Menu brings to a full screen view.

Basically like you said, all the redirect things are the only problems I'm noticing.

Thanks Andy. Temporarily disabled the menu until I figure out the problem.

When I'm in the forums and I hit the link to the main forum page in the forum navigation it comes up in a full screen, but thats my only problem I see. Awesome job guys.
