Carter & Johnsson Injured Can the regular season get here fast enough?
The latest players added to the Flyers M*A*S*H unit are defenseman Kim Johnsson, and uber-prospect Jeff Carter.
Johnsson was injured early in the first period with what is believed to be a right groin strain. Carter suffered a sprained elbow during the third period. Coach Hitchcock believes Johnsson will be back on the ice this weekend. The Flyers are optimistic that Carter will be on the ice for opening night.
There was good news last night, as Derian Hatcher made an early return from his injury. Additionally, Peter Forsberg is expected to see some action this weekend.
So far this preseason the Flyers have lost Hatcher, Forsberg, Kapanen, Primeau, and now Johnsson & Carter to injury.
If there's a silver lining in all of this, it's that the Flyers have gotten a good look at their prospects. It's clearly obvious that this organization has exceptional depth... something sorely missing against Tampa in the Conference Finals.
The road to Stanley starts on Wednesday. |
