| Roenick dealt to L.A. Goodbye, JR.
Saying Goodbye to a guy like Roenick is tough. Afterall, J.R. is a guy who did everything a Philly fan could ever want: he gave it everything he had. He played with a broken jaw. He played with a concussion, and scored the winning goal that launched the Flyers to the Conference Finals. He spoke his mind, and wore his heart on his sleeve. He wanted so badly to give us Flyers fans the Stanley Cup Championship we so desperately coveted.
Ironically, his leaving town may be his greatest assist.
Clarke made it official today and dealt the much loved Jeremy Roenick to L.A., along with a 3rd round pick in 2006 for the ever popular "Future Considerations". Before anyone says "We gave JR away for nothing?!", consider this: Daymond Langkow was traded to Phoneix for "Future Considerations". Those future considerations ended up being their #1 pick, which turned into Jeff Carter.
Even on his way out the door, J.R. stamped his mark on the hearts of Philly sports fans yet again in an interview on WIP, ''The Flyers have a better chance of winning the Stanley Cup with Peter Forsberg than with Jeremy Roenick, I want to wish Philly good luck, and thank them for everything they've given me over the past three years. I also want to thank Bob Clarke for putting me in a place where I'd fit in well.''. | | | | Forum Enforcer, Wallpaper Designer

| I agree, it's a shame that we had to give up a player that gave it his all. Looks like the time took a huge face lift in the off-season. | | | | Let's go Flyers.

| . I'll miss JR. He was such a class act and a very inspiring player. I for one will be clapping when JR comes back to Philly, and I hope the other 19K fans do as well. | | | | LETS GO FLYERS!

| I'll miss JR. He was a great guy, and he topped it off by the comments he made to WIP. Best of luck to him with the Kings. | | | | No Longer Embarrased

| So that one time "future considerations" turned into Jeff Carter. The Flyers got lucky.
This is bull****.

| Agreed. The Flyers send JR... AND a 3rd-rounder to L.A. for "future considerations". Basically, that means a crappy player or two and some cash.
Total. Crap.

| Wow. What JR said on Best Damn was one of the most touching things a Philadelphia Hockey player has ever said to the media. Gonna miss 'em. | | | | H4-H6 Designer Join Date: Jul 2003 Posts: 494

This is bull****. | Think of it this way, would you have traded Jeremy Roenick & a 3rd round pick for Peter Forsberg?
Or for that matter, Danny Markov for Hatcher & Rathje?
I still think Trader Bob is going to wave his magic hockey stick and turn Handzus into a winger. | | | | No Longer Embarrased

Jeremy Roenick & a 3rd round pick for Peter Forsberg and ________ sounds a little better.
