Default Philadelphia Flyers - Bringing the Cup Back to Broad Street - An EHM Story

So, this is going to be my new Flyers season/dynasty story. The other one just became too much to have to update. With EHM I can cover so much more ground. I'll also be able to update with more games at once.

Here's where you guys come in, sorry Wes, I'm gonna borrow your idea I'll take your advice (serious) as to player moves to make.

Stay tuned for an update.

And an added bonus, pictures will be included (Drew )

After six games the Flyers are 4-1-1. Only losses coming to the Red Wings in a shootout, and a regulation loss to the Devils.

Here are the stats so far:

Roster I'm using was up-to-date for the beginning of the season, so that's why he's still around.

I'm kinda waiting a month before I start making any moves, that way I can atleast give guys a chance to show me something.

10/21
PHI 3 CBJ 1

RJ Umberger continued on his pace as he had a short-handed goal for the Flyers. Also scoring for the Flyers were Jeff Carter and Mike Knuble. Marty Biron had 39 saves in the game.

10/24
PHI 0 PIT 5

The Pens completely outplayed the Flyers in this game. The Flyers never really stood a chance from the start. Ryan Whitney had two goals for Pittsburgh.

10/28
PHI 2 NYR 4

The Flyers battled back through out, but could not hold off the Rangers late as they took control and stretched their lead to two. Danny Briere and Jeff Carter scored for the Flyers. Marty Biron made 24 saves. Henrik Lundqvist had 36 saves for the Rangers.

11/1
PHI 3 LA 4 (SO)

A good effort by the Flyers came up short in the shootout. The Flyers showedthe ability to battle back as they answered all of the Kings' goals. Simon Gagne had two goals for the Flyers, one of them on the PowerPlay. Umberger had the other. Marty Biron had 31 saves for the Flyers.

Fitzpatrick on the way out?

Recent reports indicate that the Flyers are unhappy with the performance of D Rory Fitzpatrick. He was scratched for the game in LA. Flyers GM Ryan Sassaman had no comment on the matter. Rumor is that both Fitzpatrick and Mike Rathje have been placed opn the trading block.

Other notes: The Canucks have expressed interest in Scottie Upshall. Neither team is saying much at this point. The Oilers are unhappy with the performance of Ales Hemsky as well, and are open to trade offers; it's unclear if the Flyers have interest.

Flyers stats as of 11/2

Jeff, it's really worth it. Doesn't take much of a computer to run, many people run it on laptops from what I've heard. You can get through a ton of games quickly, depending how much detail from the games you want to see.

The best part is acting like the GM and doing everything he would do. From assigning scouts, hiring/firing staff/coaches, setting lines and tactics, etc. It's probably one of the most in depth things I've come across.

You can download the free demo here: http://www.eastsidehockeymanager.net/ I think the demo gives you six months of in-game time. If you like it and want the full version, it's $34.95 for the full license.

Flyers make a deal

In an effort to free some cap space and improve the team, the Flyers made some moves today. First off was a trade with the Red Wings.

DET gets: Mike Rathje, 2009 4th rd pick
PHI gets: Dallas Drake, Brett Lebda, 2008 4th rd pick

Comments: " Rathje was not going to see any playing time with us. He's not built for the new style of the NHL. Drake provides us with a physical presence, who also some scoring ability.

A trade between the Flyers/Blackhawks is still in the works. At this point, the Blackhawks would get Ben Eager, while the Flyers receive a 3rd pick in 2008. With the acquisition of Drake, Ben Eager is no longer needed.

Other notes: The Flyers are looking to deal Rory Fitzpatrick. GM Ryan Sassaman also denied rumors that Steve Downie may be moved to Minnesota. He had a quick comment, "Downie has a great future with this team, he's not going anywhere, unless something really good comes along. But he's pretty safe here."

The Flyers finished up a few other moves.

Rory Fitzpatrick was dealt to San Jose for an 08 4th rd pick. And Ben Eager was dealt to Florida for a 3rd rd pick in 08.

11/4
PHI 6 SJ 5 OT

The Flyers put in a great effort against the Sharks, as they would not let the Sharks walk away with this one. San Jose led 5-2 going into the 3rd period. The Flyers would get the 6-5 win in OT. Mike Knuble had 2 goals for the Flyers, Simon Gagne had 1G, 2A, and Danny Briere had 4 assists.

11/6
PHI 2 ANH 4

The Flyers fell to the Ducks after their huge come from behind win in San Jose. Scottie Upshall and Dallas Drake had the goals for the Flyers. Antero Niittymaki made 23 saves. King had 2 goals for the Ducks

11/8

WSH 4 PHI 3

The Capitals pounced on mistakes by the Flyers as they earned a 4-3 win. Gagne, Upshall, and Umberger scored for the Flyers. The Flyers kept the big names off the scoresheet for the Caps. Marty Biron had 35 saves

11/10
BOS 4 PHI 5 Shootout

The Flyers earned a shootout win over the Bruins in a hard fought game. Mike Knuble had 2G, 1A for the Flyers. Marty Biron had 31 saves.

11/11
PHI 1 FLA 3

The Panthers showed a great defensive effort as they held the Flyers to one goal, scored by Danny Briere. Jokinen, Weiss, and Olesz scored for the Panthers.

11/13
NYR 3 PHI 2

After the Rangers jumped out early off some Flyer miscues, the Flyers showed guts. They almost came back, but in the end the Rangers were just a tad better. Jagr had two goals for the Rangers. Danny Briere had 1G, 1A for the Flyers.

11/17
PHI 2 OTT 6

Things looked good for the Flyers early on, as Mike Richards had two goals. The Flyers led 2-0 after one. But then the wheels fell off as the Senators scored six unanswered. Jason Spezza had 2G, 1A and Daniel Alfredsson had 1G, 2A for the Senators.

11/18

NYI @ PHI 2:1

After being blown out by Ottawa, the Flyers played a very hard fought game against the Isles. Scoring for the Flyers were Danny Briere and Mike Knuble. Martinek had the lone Isles goal. While Marty Biron made 31 saves.

11/20

PHI @ NYR 4:6

The Flyers met up with the hated Rangers at MSG. The Flyers were coming off a big win over the Isles just a few nights before. The Flyers played it close, but the Rangers would come out on top. Martin Straka had two goals for the Rangers, and Jagr had three assis, and Scott Gomez had 1G, 3A. Lupul, Briere, Richards, and Knuble scored for he Flyers. Jeff Carter had 2A.

11/22

MTL @ PHI 4:3

This game went back and forth several times. THe Flyers kept coming back and tying the game up. But with 30seconds left, the Habs netted the game-winner. Scoring for the Flyers were Lebda (his first as a Flyer,) Gagne, and Lupul. While Latandresse, Ryder Smolinski, and Bouillion scored for Montreal.

11/24

PHI @ NJ 4:2

The Flyers were looking for a win in New Jersey, something that hasn't happened in quite a while. After playing two tough, close games, this was almost a must win. The Flyers showed a strong effort all-around. Simon Gagne had 2G, 1A; Briere and Lupul also scored for the Flyers. Madden and Gionta scored for the Devils. Marty Biron had 28 saves.

11/25

NYI @ PHI 3:4

Just like that, the Flyers and Isles met again, this time in South Philly. The Flyers played very well and would pick up another win. Mike Comrie had two goals for the Isles, with Miro Satan netting the other one. RJ Umberger had two goals for the Flyers, Briere and Gagne also scored. Mike Richards had 2A, and Biron made 16 stops.

11/28

NJ @ PHI 5:4 SO

The Flyers continued their stretch of divisional games as the played host to the Devils. The Devils jumped out early, but the Flyers battled back. Down by one in the 3rd, the Flyers eventually beat Marty Brodeur to tie it. Neither team would score in the OT period, so this one went to a shootout. Gionta and Elias scored for the Devils, while Gagne and Briere were stopped in the shootout by Brodeur. Jay Pandolfo had two goals, Bergfors and Gionta also scored. Joffrey Lupul had 2G, 1A. Umberger and Briere also socred. And Mike Richards had 2A

Kukkonen on Thin Ice?

Recent reports showed that the fans and Chariman Ed Snider were unhappy with Kukkonen's recent play. GM Ryan Sassaman defended his play saying, "Recently we've been in a bit of a slump. We don't expect Lasse to show up on the scoresheet, but we do expect to play well defensively. We're going to give him another chance before we do anything. He's going to be paired with Braydon for a little, who has one of the highest plus/minus on the team right now."
