I'm in a pretty cool league over at LeagueGaming, known as the NHL 3 on 3 Team League. The concept is neat; as of right now, there are 12 teams, each with its own GM and Captain, with rosters of about 20 NHL and AHL players on each. As a new player, you start out in training camp for your club, hoping to make the AHL roster. Then, after that, you try to earn yourself a spot with your team's NHL club. Full stats are tracked and there is an expansion draft every season as well as the possibility of trades. Team as well as individual awards are given out each year. There is even a weekly radio show, similar to your typical sports-talk radio program, running down the news in the league that week. This league is the closest you can come to playing in the NHL without actually doing it.
Currently, we are in the first round of the playoffs, but if you sign up now, you'll be thrown into the pool for the Season 3 expansion/entry draft. I'm known as NickBarr on the site, and my team, the Flyers, just swept Ottawa and are in the conference finals against Pittsburgh. Come root for us as we sweep the Penguins as well (we beat them in the season series, 5-1, and outscored them 26-13).
Also, keep in mind that this is a gentleman's league. We don't want any glitchers, cheesers, or whiners. If you're one of these players, you need not apply since you won't make it past training camp anyway, but if you think you fit the bill for what our league wants in a player, sign up today. Keep in mind that this is a player-lock league. Meaning that there's no locking on to ANY in our team games. Every player must lock into a position in each game, meaning that teamwork is the most important factor by far (which is how it should be).
