| NEW GEAR?! Come on.
We need some of this.
And I'd really rather not pay $30 for a T-Shirt, so if at all possible, we need to find a way to keep costs down, but maximize our profits.
Now that I'm done speaking like a true American, please throw gear suggestions in this thread. Serious ones only, too, please. First person to suggest a jersey gets a 24-hour ban, courtesy of Mikey. | | | | Thoresen dropper NHL-spil

| Drew (the5hole.com) has been throwing some ideas my way. I'll let him explain.
I say we have him manage our merchandise, provided we have definite buyers upfront for him to start the process.
Someone design a new shirt.

| How about a shirt with Herman Munster on it, wearing a Flyers jersey!

Dude.. Don't be jealous, cause my idea's happen to be far superior to yours. I happen to think any funny pop culture character in a Flyers jersey would be bad ass. Take your criticism elsewhere.

| Drew and I have been talking some things over, it's a work in progress. A T-shirt will never cost anyone $30 if I'm involved. But there are some limitations which I have explained to Drew.
Sites like cafe press use a direct to garment printer which is basically like a laser jet printer for a computer that simply recreates an uploaded image onto the shirt. There are positives and negatives to this process. On the plus side, it allows them to offer basically anything you send them on a shirt, and they can print shirts one at a time in seconds. The negative is these prints only hold up for a few washings before it starts to fade. It's a perfect racket and I realize the convince of the operation.
They can do a multi-color design on demand. I can't do that, period.
However, I do traditional screen printing that will withstand years of washings. It's just not as convenient.
A multi-color job consumes several hours from start to finish which means printing one shirt 'on demand' is out of the question. If the HIVE membership can come up with a design that everyone likes and enough people commit to purchasing the product, we can get a nice garment out.
I can not hold stock of HIVE gear with the hopes that it will be purchased, but I will be willing to take pre-orders of a set design and distribute the gear to buyers. The limitations are that each individual design has a minimum, due to the time and work involved. Min is 24 pieces and the cost per piece drops by volume. Just to give you an idea, when I release a new shirt on my site I print 4-5 dozen in various sizes. If they don't sell (which some don't) I'm out a few hundred bucks plus my time.
I'd love to be able to have multiple HIVE designs available on my site, but I can't take the risk of fronting that kind of specific line. However, a pre-order is very do-able, provided we come up with a single design. The actual garment is variable but would also be subject to pre-order, ie: short/long sleeve T, ringer T, hoodie, etc. Prices would reflect the garment.
If enough people are interested, and a design is agreed upon, a price tier could be generated based on the garment variables.
Throw some ideas around, and if at all possible, please do the artwork in Illustrator with separate layers by color. Please do not collapse layers, and keep everything unlocked. My graphic artist is a busy mofo and it keep costs down when he doesn't have to re-design artwork.
Feel free to ask any questions. I want to give you guys some HIVE gear at an affordable price but I need some input along the way. | | | | | Thanked by: | Drew (January 17th, 2008) | GTS Manager

| And please keep in mind, the more colors involved, the more expensive it is to print. So try not to be too complicated in the design, for everyone's sake.
I can get some sweet ass hoodies right now for a very reasonable price. They are produced as competition to the standard Champion hoodie, heavyweight 14 oz sweat with lined hood and front pouch pocket. Only thing is they only come in gray right now. | | | | | Thanked by: | Drew (January 17th, 2008) | Thoresen dropper NHL-spil
