According to Spector and The Edmonton Journal, the Flyers are apparently looking at restructuring Jason Smith's contract. (see link below). While I think that Smith will be a positive force on the back end, my bigger hope is that they are able to dump some of the salary they have tied up right now (aka. Goat and Rathje).

Rathje is still 'threatening' to come back and, with Goat still around, we're right up against the cap. Still, Homer's done a decent job so far... let's just see how Smith gels with the rest of the D... then talk about resigning him

I'd honestly see how our d goes with Smith before any offers for an extension are made.

Watch for chemistry, then make a decision. I wouldn't even think about an extension until December comes around.
