Whatever happened to the day's of when you went to a hockey game all you saw of the arena was clean white boards, with the exception of the occasional scuff mark from where a player had been hit hard into that area of the boards and clean white ice, with the exception of the red, blue and goal lines? I guess them day's have long passed. Now we have sponcers names & logo littered all over the arena. 1st it started with plastering their company name or logo all over the boards. 2nd they slapped the company name or logo on the scoreboard. 3rd they painted the company name or logo on the ice. 4th they named the whole damn arena after the sponcer. And now the Flyers have announced to promote their new sponcer Delta Dental the Flyers are looking to hire girls's to perform at their home game as the Delta Dental Girl's. It wasn't bad enough that last year everytime the Flyers got a powerplay you heard Lou Nolan at the game or Jim Jackson on TV announce; "The Flyers are going on the Peco Power Play!" to promote their sponcer Peco Energy. What's it going to be this year? The Peco faceoff, the Peco line change, the Peco stoppage of play? I know with sponcers comes money and the old saying; "Money walks & B.S talks" but why do they have to ram their sponcers down our throats? The next thing you know the Flyers jersey's will look like the billboards on I-76 with sponcers name and logo's littered all over them as well.

Man those were tha days , you cant walk into any ice rink , pros , minors , or even you skating center with out seein ads on the boards , ice or whcih ever , , true its how thay make a good amount of there money , with out ads , just imagine how high ticket proces would be , , all they need now is a sponser for the penalty kill ,

Yeah The European Elite Leagues have Sponsers logos all over there jerseys, if you ever seen a picture of Pitkanen playing on Karpat, Check out his jersey has about 10 diffrent logos and names on it

Damn! I'd be embarissed to wair the jersey if it was stiched all up with loads of sponcers. I'd feel like one of guys back in the day who stood on a street corner with them goofy "A" shaped sign's that they wore over themselves.

A bunch of us are sitting in high school right now checking out this site which one of our friends showed us earlier today. He just left awhile ago, leaving us logged in under his account.

We are all Freshmen in H.S. and cannot figure out if this is supposed to be a joke.

If this isn't a joke, then we are amazed.

What are we talking about? Well, lets just say that you shouldn't worry about being embarassed to wear a jersey. You should be embarassed that you can't spell simple words like embarassed, wear, stitched, and sponsors. And for the record, it's THOSE goofy "A" shaped signs, not THEM shaped.

As for the site, it really is cool. One of us is a Penguins fan, but hey -- we all can't be perfect

BSB, very good points.....unfortunately, advertising and marketing are what fuels player salaries in sports today. The crap plastered all over the arenas, jerseys, etc. does get annoying though.

Hmm... PK unit has no sponsors and it works fine... PP unit is sponsored by a major corporation and it looks like a bunch of beer leaguers throwing it around on a backyard ice rink...
