| Jones + Bundy = One big pile of pooh I have yet to see Randy Jones' even remotely improve his play since joining the club. Game after game he takes hooking penalties because he's been beaten to the net. I just love watching the replays of him and Bundy on the ice after a goal is scored. If I were Esche or Nitty I would start beating them with the goal stick. So I keep on posing the same question: Why pair your two worst defenseman together? I'm starting to like Bundy compared to Jones.
If Nedved keeps taking stupid penalties you can add him to this list as well. He's yet to do much of anything but show his age. | | | | Let's go Flyers.

| Jones is a rookie so he should be allowed to make mistakes , Bundy on the other hand in a vetern and should know what mistakes not to make

| I agree Jones is a rookie and he was thrown into a tough spot. Thrown into the Flyers organization right before the end of season / playoff run. He had to fill a big hole on the Flyers blueline. Give him time I say, give all rookies time.
Agreed, Bundy the veteran, shouldn't be making the constant stupid mistakes. He should no better for real.

| and once again I say, time is not something we really have right now..
I wasn't blaming Jones for making mistakes, he's young and he should wait a couple years before coming in. Clarke through him in because of injuries to our blueline. Now that our blueline is getting healthy, why keep him up?? | | | | do-nothing Hiver

| I think the biggest mistake recently was keeping Jones and sending Meyers down. Clearly, Meyers has been the better d-man and deserved a spot. Jones should be the journeyman at this point (well, I might consider keeping him the 7th dman if we could find a way to dump Bundy - he's about useless but at least he's not making as many costly mistakes as he was a few weeks ago).
Anyways, now Meyers is back and contributing on the offensive side once again... the area where we've been lacking quite a bit lately. Having Joni back is a big boost but we still need some spark on D. Heck, Picard played decent in his few games here... why not give him a longer run rather than Jones.
My big worry is... Desjardins has been an injury mess the past few years. I love him as a dman (not in a brokeback mtn sort of way) but I'm a little concerned about his decreasing reliability come playoff time. I don't think he has much left on his worn out body.

| Where's Seidenberg? That trade is beginning to look even worse as the games go by. During the stretch run, and the playoffs it's ALWAYS better to have an extra D-man than a forward. | | | | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Posts: 183

| Since the trade Seidenberg is averaging about 19:00 of ice time for Phoenix. Not too shabby! He's a -4 with 3 PTS and 2 PIM's, but he's playing on a pretty bad team. I'll take that line over Randy Jones anyday!! | | | | No Longer Embarrased

But yeah, Jones shuoldn't be there at this point sinces there are better choices available. And I'm sure the little bit of extra money the Flyers get by choosing Jones over Meyer, or whatever the deal is with that, isn't worth the mistakes this guy is making.

Now that our blueline is getting healthy, why keep him up?? | Hex, if I'm understanding you correctly (let me know if I got it totally wrong) I'd have to disagree. At least in the short run of things. Someone said it the other day, we're on top of our division pushing towards the end of season / playoff run. We're in the post season, we know that for damn sure. I'd rather see our hurt guys take their time getting back into the lineup instead of rushing themselves just to get hurt again by playoff time.
So if Randy Jones has to hang around for a little long so be it ya know. He may not be helping us on the ice much, but think about it, he's helping us off the ice honestly.

| I've said it before .... I'll say it again ... The Flyers should SERIOUSLY try to win their division so they grab one of the top 3 seeds in the playoffs. Remember last time around? The Flyers didn't win their division; they had THE MOST DIFFICULT road in the NHL that playoff season. And on the other hand, Tampa Bay probably had the "easiest" road (not taking anything away from Tampa - they were a terrific team). But if the Flyers had an easier road before they faced Tampa, I truly believe the outcome would have been different.
So winning EVERY game possible during the regular season is imperative. Simply making the playoffs is NEVER just "good enough". | | | | Section 212

| I guess I wouldn't be opposed to having to deal with Randy Jones for another two weeks if it meant a healthy Kim Jonsson and Eric Desjardins after the Olympic break. | | | | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 95

He's an extremely smart defenseman who deserves it. | | | | No Longer Embarrased

| exactly, I just don't understand the move.. If someone is playing well, why send him down? I'm glad Philly signed Meyer now though, when Rico and Johnsson get back..
Hatcher Johnsson
Desjardins Rathje
Pitkanen Meyer
very nice :drunk: | | | | | | |
