HOME OPENER THROWDOWN!

It was an eventful day in South Philly for members of the HIVE. My group showed up in the lot around 1pm. Luckily, we didn’t need to pay for parking. While my group waited for Drew and the rest of the crew to arrive, we started to assemble our hockey net, and get our food/cooler ready for the day. It took us about five minutes to get the net together and ready for use. Following suit, everyone else began to arrive. There were not nearly as many HIVE members there as there were made out to be. However, the group of guys we had was hilarious, and just as drunk as anyone else would’ve been. The Hive members that were in attendance were Brett, Myself, Chris, Eric, Ryan, Mikey, Drew, and Steve aka MetalPuck. Steve flew in from Chicago with his sister for the game. It was his first Flyers game, and he got to see a win.
Once everyone settled in, the festivities began.
It was a day of shooting around at a 42 inch net and drinking beer, with scattered games of beer pong. Mikey and his partner went undefeated (i think?), as Brett and Troy also won a few games themselves.
Brett showed his mastered skill of re-directing pucks, while Drew showed his skill of whistling the puck into the net. With loud crashes following his shots, most of Drew's shots hit target. Mike also showed his skills by standing in the same spot for extended periods of time while drinking a beer and attempting to stick handle with one hand. Quite a sight. During the process, we lost all but one of the pucks that we came with. Thanks, I-95/76. You were really helpful to us. :)
Drew golfed with a water bottle.
Tailgating was soon coming to a hault. Almost time to go inside. A few more entertaining pong games were played and the alcohol in everyone really started to show it's affect.
During clean up, Drew decided to crawl under the pong table, and explode in an upward fashion causing everyone on the table to fly into the air and come crashing back to the ground. This was the most hilarious part of my day to boot. Until he decided to LAUNCH an empty mini-keg ONTO I-76. WTF.
Following that was a cup of piss and an empty pot of nothing but grease from the crock pot that contained the meat for our steaks (which were delicious, by the way)
After a mere six hours of tailgating, we started to stampede into the building. Some of us stammering (we'll keep clear of mentioning names, though) :p. We were in early enough to see warm-ups and enjoy the rest of the pre-game festivities. I completely forgot about my bet to hit on an ice girl. I only noticed this after we left, which was disturbing. Anyhow, the game went on. I didn't see much of the Hive members during the game, which was disappointing. Eric, Chris, and I took a walk to the Broad Street Atrium Fan Gear store during the first intermission to price jerseys. Of course, they didn't have my size, so I went back up to my seat.
Game continued - I got ice cream. Damn, it was tasty.
After the game, I bought my Briere jersey, Banker bought a Briere T-Shirt, and we started our walk back to the car without Ryan and Watt. Drew and Kara caught up to Chris and I and we starting carrying on a bit then talking about the game. Once we got back to the car, everyone talked about the game, said their goodbye's and got on their way. All in all, the day was a HUGE amount of fun, and I'm glad I spent all the money I did to enjoy myself. I enjoyed meeting Mike and Steve, and as always, it's nice to see Drew and Brett. Even though it's been two weeks, or something. Hahah.
We'll have to do it again sometime. I'm not writing a post game report. You all know what happened.
