TFH - On Wednesday, the NHL and the Philadelphia Flyers released the 2007-2008 regular season schedule. The Flyers will open the season in Western Canada with three away games in six days. On October 6th, the Flyers drop the first puck of the season in Calgary, Alberta against the 2003-2004 Western Conference Champion Flames.
They then travel to Edmonton where they will face former Flyer Joni Pitkanen and the Oilers. They finish the road trip up in Vancouver before coming home on October 13th for their home opener against the New York Islanders.
Besides for playing the Islanders, the New Jersey Devils, the New York Rangers, and Pittsburgh Penguins eight times each, the Flyers will face off against the rest of the Eastern Conference two times. They also will face the rest of the Northwest Division when they take on the Minnesota Wild at home on December 5th, then head out to Denver to play the Colorado Avalanche on the 7th.
The Pacific Division's Dallas Stars, Phoenix Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings, and San Jose Sharks will all make trips to the Wachovia Center on December 1st, 18th, January 29th, and February 21st respectfully. On February 2nd, the 2006 Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks fly to Philadelphia to give the Flyers a true test.
The interesting part of the schedule has the Flyers last eight remaining games against Atlantic Division rivals. Sure will be a sprint towards the finish line come April.

Start out West and then come home on the thirteenth? Humph. That's an oddity. Nice of the league to start us out there. We'll begin our reign of terror. :D

At least it's at 9 PM. Gives us some time to get home and ready the superstitions: the opening night LeClair jersey, the odd-numbered volume on the TV, Labatt Blue, etc.).
Well, those are mine at least :D

Can we change the scheduling back to the way it was? This new scheduling flat out sucks. I don't want eight division games every year. Give me one game versus each team every year.
I feel sorry for those who have to wait like four years or so (I cannot remember the correct number off the top of my head) to see the stars like Sid and Ovy.
