Flyers defenseman Denis Gauthier has been suspended for two games, with out pay, as a result of being assessed a game misconduct penalty during NHL game #1153 against the Toronto Maple Leafs on April 8.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Gauthier will forfeit $13,602.04. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Gauthier was assessed a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct for a hit from behind on Toronto player Kyle Wellwood at 0:22 of the second period.

Gauthier will miss Tuesday's game against Pittsburgh and April 13 at New Jersey. He will be eligible to return April 15 against the New York Rangers.

Didn't catch the hit, must have been somewhat serious for the league to take action like this.

He's a great, physical player, you just need to know your boundries.
