Last night former Flyer Jeremy Roenick suffered a concussion on a hit from Phoenix Coyote, Denis Gauthier. It is not yet known how serious the concussion was, but considering J.R. almost hung up the skates after his last one, any hit is serious.

On a positive note, J.R. was talking after the game and voicing his disgust with Gauthier. Although J.R. felt the hit was clean, he believed that "you shouldn't be laying guys out in pre-season". Kind of an odd statement considering J.R. is known for drilling people in all-star games, practice, and every time he is on the ice. That's not a knock against Roenick... just pointing out that he always plays hard.

In defense of Gauthier, he was recently acquired by Phoenix and is not a lock to make the team. He has to play hard if he wants to play in the NHL this season.

Poor JR. Seriously, I'm really going to miss his persona on the team this season. :(

Hope he's alright, it is scary anytime a guy who was that close to hanging up the skates gets hit like that again.. hope we'll see him back with LA asap.

:( Man, really does suck.

Hopefully he'll be able to lace up again, and continue playing. Hell, if things even go bad, I think Roenick would make a good coach, and maybe run some camps for kids across the country.
