Trader Bob strikes again.

In an effort to wipe the entire Lindros saga from the face of Flyers history, Bob Clarke signed PETER FORSBERG to a reported 2-year $10M contract today.

The signing puts the Flyers over the cap, and it is expected that Jeremy ROENICK will be dealt to the L.A. Kings.

This afternoon with Howard Eskin J.R. said "The Flyers have a better chance of winning the Stanley Cup with Peter Forsberg than with Jeremy Roenick... It's an exciting day in Philadelphia. Peter Forsberg is the best player in hockey". J.R. went on to say that he had been talking with Clarkie all day, and it seems logical that he is traded to make the cap room.

Conversely, Glen Macnow at 8:30PM has said he has spoken with Ron Ryan at the Flyers and was emphatically told that Roenick has not been traded. There are now rumors that Handzus, Desjardins, or Brashear could be dealt to make the necessary cap room.

Stay tuned to the Hive for further updates.

Lord Stanley, welcome to Philadelphia.

My god... this is amazing. Now let's ship Handzus and Brashear the hell out of Philly.

EDIT: My brother the Avalanche fan has tried pounding me with his little fists of fury. He is upset.

Little fists of fury... haha, Seinfeld reference?

I seriously just can't get the smile off my face. I'm so happy, nothing could bother me right now.

Hahaha, I didn't even notice. But yeah, definitely a subconscious Seinfeld reference.

I don't like Richards on a line with Stevenson and Brashear. It'd really limit his chances and since everyone has high expectations for him and Jeff some people might get on his case.

I believe JR's contract is over after this season. Clarke has brought back plenty of players before, who's to say he wont with him? If the cap permits, give him a one year deal? Not saying I would, but it's certainly a possibility.

Assuming that's the roster come October, that seems like the only place for Richards, at least at the beginning. As much as him and Carter have been touted as the next Flyers superstars, there's no need to rush them by replacing a veteran on a top line right away.

Exactly my thoughts. Richards is a more defensive (meaning well rounded) player, so it makes sense that he's on the "checking" line. Also, Carter & Sharp played very well together with the Phantoms. One has to remember that both Carter & Richards played last season in the OHL last year. To expect them to essentially leap to the NHL and succeed is a pretty tall order. Expecting them to lead a top line on a Stanley Cup contender is putting too much pressure on them.

Is it October 5 yet?

I just got back home after a night out, and this is HUGE. My jaw dropped when I heard the news on ESPN. October 5th can't come fast enough.
