Carlton Rink Ladies/Gents/Lady-Gents,
Time for me to vent and ask some help. This may turn out to be a long read, but worth it.
In Ewing Township, NJ there is an Outdoor Roller Hockey rink on Carlton Avenue. Its in a quiet Little park that is tucked back off the road. I have been going to the rink for a while now, mostly on Saturday mornings to play some roller hockey. Ive been going mostly to teach my very good friend from England, Chris, and My Future Brother in Law (fiance's little brother), Jack, how to play hockey. Mikey has joined us on numerous occasions.
We arrived there Saturday morning and played from 8am to 12pm. The rink was perfect and the day was amazing. Sunday I got a call from the boys and we decided to meet at the rink. I arrived 30 min before them so I could get some warm-ups in.
Upon Arrival here is what I Found:
~Both Nets have been mutilated. Holes cut in them and pieces ripped off and strewn across the rink.
~Doors to the rink have been ripped off the hinges.
~Player benches have been smashed to pieces.
~Score Keepers table has been ripped apart.
~Bottle and Cans thrown all across the rink.
~Gang Symbols and Gang names have been written in Blue marker all across the boards.
~Holes punched in the boards and the lower runners.
After seeing such disrespect, I contacted one of my close friends in the Ewing Police Department (who was off duty). He quickly had the EPD dispatched to the rink. The police came in and took photos of the damage, noting the gang names on the walls.
I have no relation with the people who run the rink. But they showed up, as I assume the police contacted them when a disturbace was reported. The guy, John, was very pleased to see that someone who is not tied to a league, called to report damage. The rink is now under constant supervison of the Ewing Police Department.
Now to the important part.
I am going to hold a fund-raiser to raise some funds to replace and fix the damage done by these Trenton Thugs. New paint, door hinges, player benches, and Score Table. Hopefully, I will get enough support to fix what is wrong.
When I set a date, I hope some of you, in the name of hockey, will support me in fixing my hometown rink. I am aiming to have one of my bands play to help the cause. Anyone have any ideas that may assist? I should have a date set in the next week or so.
Please help. In the name of Hockey.
TIA,
Kop
